Superstar.... Lived up to it's name
Simplistic Set~ Fantastic, flamboyant cast! I grew up with the album~ my parents saw the original! I wore out the vinyl~ and still Do! This production did it fantastic justice. Introduced the show to my husband for his birthday~ his parents had seen the original as well. He was also dancing in his seat ( very rare for the straight~laced introvert!). The cast truly captured the story with tonal attitude in delivery and enormous powerhouse vocals! I have to mention the one tiny dancer who stole every scene she was in! ( look for her, then again your eyes will migrate to her.) If I had one critique~ The orchestra missed the one moment that usually brings my goosebumps to life. When the iconic notes are hit the first time ~ the slowing for dramatic effect and amazing FORTE was lacking. That moment is the moment that pushes all of your senses over to the depth of the event and who HE really was, what he DID FOR US. Hit it hard, loud and long with a hard kettle drum between!
